Dragonfly

A 2 color reduction print of a dragonfly. This print was made using traditional linoleum reduction print making techniques, I hand sketched the design and then carved away the negative space. Then using printing ink covered the stamp I had created and hand press it on to the paper. Creating the initial color then carve again and stamp again to give detail and depth to the image. This style means that there is a limited number of prints ever made as the block is spent after being used.

This design was inspired by many evenings at my family cabin in Minnesota watching the dragonflies playing in the wind.

Please note that due to the nature of the hand printing process, there are slight variations between each print. It is a characteristic of linocut art and makes each one unique.
