Reduction Printing

The reduction printing process is the more complex of the two processes. It involves multiple layers of ink and you have a finite number of prints. I have gone through the steps below.

In this first stage I have transferred my image to my block.

For the first print I carveout anything I want to be white in the end print and use the lightest color I will have in my print. The number of copies I print in this stage is the maximum number I will be able to create because at the end of this process the block is "spent"

I then carve away anything I want to stay the first color, in this case I carved out the top of the bird where I wanted it to stay light blue

The process continues carving away what I want to stay each color printing the layers of ink on top of each other

This print was a 5 color reduction so I repeated the process carving and printing 5 times

\When the print is complete the block is spent and there is a finite number of prints.
